Head of Events Team (business & education)

Job Description

Exciting Head of Events mat cover contract for a senior event professional with experience of working on B2B events, breakfast meetings, leadership events, conferences and business community events!

ROLE

This is a 12 month mat cover contract (starting December 2018) that will see you acting as Interim Head of Events for a leading business, innovation & education organisation.

This senior level strategic event management contract role will involve managing the events team (5 staff) in the full end-to-end event management of a portfolio of events including Thought Leadership Events, Conferences, Innovation Awards, Industry Insight Showcase events, drinks receptions, Strategy Forums, high level sponsored speaker series, conferences, breakfast meetings and business community events (both on and off campus).

Key responsibilities:-

  • Event strategy & planning
  • Internal & external relationship management
  • Departmental leadership & staff management 
  • Evaluate, assess & prioritise event requests from across the wider business
  • Analysis, ROI, KPIs & departmental reporting
  • Supplier & contractor management 
  • Financial & budget management 
  • Resource management
  • Provide event advice & guidance for other depts/staff across the organisation
  • Brand management 
  • Maintain events policies, systems and processes
  • Competitor & market monitoring and analysis
  • Close liaison & collaboration with marketing & comms colleagues

CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading an events division in the successful delivery of B2B events (both small and large-scale) such as conferences, thought leadership events, showcases, summits, awards, talks & debates, receptions, breakfast briefings & networking events for audiences from across the commercial, educational, business community, academic and corporate sectors.

Staff management skills are essential as is financial & budget management, multiple stakeholder management, analysis & evaluation reporting and over-arching project management.

Candidates should be high-level decision makers with first-class leadership, communication, organisational and planning skills. A minimum of 10 years’ events experience is essential and candidates must be able to manage relationships, build rapport with people at all levels and bring to the table maturity, a high level of professionalism and a real passion for events.

From a personality point of view you’ll need to be practical & resourceful, calm & diplomatic, confident and super organised with a high level of gravitas and professionalism at a senior level.

A positive and “can-do” attitude is a must and a broad pair of shoulders and a very good sense of humour would also be very useful!
