Financial Accountant - Financial Services/Funds/Pensions

Job Description

The Financial Accountant will join a small, but highly effective team, helping to run the accounts of a large pension Master Trust, improve MI and control monitoring.

The Role:
This is a visible financial accountant opportunity sat within a small finance team, reporting directly into the Senior Financial Reporting Manager.  This role would suit someone who can build strong working relationships - you’ll be expected to work with several teams internally including investment assurance as well as have regular contact with several external stakeholders (auditors, DWP, external 3rd party administrator).

Typical duties:

  • Assist in the running of the scheme accounts and help improve management information and the current control environment – help identify triggers and pressure points.
  • Assist in the production of both the Scheme and also the Corporation’s financial statements and production of schedules for the external auditors.
  • Ensuring financial controls are maintained both actively and through detection controls mainly through SoFP reconciliations.
  • Run the monthly PFI accounting model and scheme asset registers.
  • Lead/co-ordinate particular processes or parts of processes.

About You:
I’m looking for a Financial Accountant who has previous experience working in financial accounting position within financial services.  You’ll have an undersanding of statutory accounts, SORP and IFRS.  Not neccessary but I think useful could be someone who’s had exposure to fund accounting.    You’ll have strong problem-solving skills;  be a forward thinker who can help detect issues/pressure points.  You’ll be strong numerically and have excellent excel modeling.  You’ll have a track record of creating MI and dashboards and embedding financial controls within a business.  Educated with good degree (at leasst 2.1) in a numerical subject and be a qualifed accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPF etc).  Please press the 'Apply' now button they're keen to start interviewing ASAP.
