Senior Events Manager – (Professional Membership Body)

Senior Event Manager/Team lead role - oversee and mentor team as they deliver a busy programme of events, as well as strategic and project management role - with this prestigious membership body - 12 month mat cover Jan/Feb start.

Leading professional body, within a fast-moving corporate sector.  The Institution exists to provide insights, leadership, relevant learning and activities to maintain and grow an informed professional membership.  As part of this, they run a busy programme of varied UK events, including Awards, Conferences, Exhibitions, seminars, forums and Webinars, and their sectors professional development programme.

Role
This role has duel responsibilities.  Firstly, Reporting to the Event Director and leading and coaching a team of 3 you’ll have responsibility for allocating and overseeing a range of events to the delivery team, plus act as the project manager of their major annual event which is delivered by an external agency. Secondly, a large part of your role will be to provide the strategic planning that supports the delivery of events and concentrating on future proofing the team, this will include succession planning of senior staff.  You will also ensure that a central support system is in place, looking into processes and procedures and in particular be part of the team researching and working on the delivery of a new CRM system.  You’ll have the opportunity to build internal relationships within the association at all levels, including senior stakeholders.

You
You’ll have a strong track record of event delivery and team management along with a good knowledge of setting up an events department, processes, procedures and database integration plus experience of supplier and project management.  You will ideally have experience of working within a membership organization, if that is within the financial or insurance sectors that would be really advantageous.  You’ll be personable, approachable, motivated and enthusiastic, and happy to help and support on various levels.

  • Proven track record in Events and management
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Planning and strategic thinking skills
  • Budget management skills, ability to interpret MI reports
  • Able to implement new processes and procedures
  • Excellent IT skills and familiarity with databases, event related software and CRM systems
  • Excellent at organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • Friendly, hardworking, flexible, enjoys managing and ensuring their event programme is brilliantly executed for its members whilst ensuring the future of the team
