- Leading global law firm is looking for an experienced Events Professional to work in their business development team, to develop, grow and deliver their client networks events programme (focussing on the life science client sector) - role encompasses proactive relationship building and development of member network alongside event delivery (this would particularly suit an Event Manager with experience working within a professional membership/association/network environment within professional services).

You’ll be joining the London office at this dynamic, busy and impressive Legal Firm (350 pax in the London office). Their Business Development team has been growing in line with their proven success of developing industry leading networks within varied client sectors. Most notable in this is their Life Science network, within which they have established and grown a number of key Legal Networks, and thereby necesitating bringing in a second member of this team, who alongside exceptional event delivery skills, can bring a strong understanding and affiliation with the wider activities needed to develop and build strong membership networks.
Role
Your full title would be ‘Legal Networks Events Specialist’ and you’ll work closely and proactively with the Legal Networks Manager on a forward looking programme of communications and events focused on developing relationships and profile with life sciences clients. (The legal networks are membership-based benchmarking and networking groups for in-house regulatory counsel at life sciences companies working on specific areas of regulatory law). Sector knowledge is not a pre-requisite. Specifically:- Alongside the Manager, you’ll work directly with partners and other stakeholders, and assist in coordinating the legal networks membership groups.
- Projects will include planning and execution of the biannual meetings and webinars, end to end international event management
- Working closely with internal contacts to develop and champion an industry leading programme in line with sector needs, hot topics etc
- Assisting in the maintenance of membership collateral for the networks, supporting efforts to retain and expand the legal networks membership base, monitoring progress against planned priorities
- Brainstorming on strategies to improve the profile of the networks.
- You’ll take an active role in learning about the life sciences industry practices and other network-related practices, and have the analytic, research and copy writing skills to be able to draft up relevant content/communications outlines to support their development and progress
- The role requires the development of strong and effective working relationships within the Marketing department, as well as with other administrative departments and lawyers. So proven ability to work with varied and senior professional stakeholders is essential.
You
You’ll be an experienced Events Professional, ideally used to working within the corporate, legal, professional services sector, and if you have experience of working within a dynamic Membership or Association based body that is all advantageous. You’ll be skilled deliverer of high level corporate events (ideally internationally), enjoy working in a busy and forward looking professional environment, with a clear understanding of the importance of developing and delivering programmes that support the interests, needs and relationships within a sector. You will need:- Excellent previous experience (minimum 4 years) of planning and leading events in a corporate or professional services environment
- Experience of working within a membership organization would be beneficial
- General understanding of effective business development, client/member relationship building and marketing activities
- Excellent written communication skills, and experience of writing for a variety of audiences, tailoring your writing appropriately – able to proactively draft up outlines to get projects moving
- Strong attention to detail, proactive, strong judgement, highly developed organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal communication, and analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self awareness, ambitious and confident with a natural style, determined but diplomatic
- Experience of using CRM software (ie Salesforce, InterAction)
- Someone who enjoys working collaboratively, pulling on the strengths of people with different viewpoints ideas with the goal of finding the most promising solution or approach
