Excellent opportunity for a pro-active Events Executive to join the busy team at this leading Association working within a specialist section of the international financial sector.
Working as part of a friendly, supportive team of event experts, you’ll help deliver a varied programme of conferences, seminars, roundtables, networking receptions and webinars, bringing together senior business professionals from across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in corporate events who enjoys being hands-on, has a good eye for detail and understands the importance of delivering well-organised, professional events for a senior business audience. (Hybrid: 3 days in office/2 at home)
About the organisation
This well-established international Association represents a broad membership of Corporates operating across the financial markets, including banks, asset managers, law firms and specialist service providers. Its work is focused on supporting the development of the sector, sharing knowledge, improving market practices and bringing industry professionals together. Events are a key part of this, providing opportunities for members to learn, discuss important industry topics and build valuable business connections.
With a varied events programme across content and networking, and an international reach, it’s an interesting environment for an Events Executive looking to further develop their experience and work alongside an experienced, knowledgeable and supportive team.
The Role
Reporting into the Senior Event Manager, and part of a small but perfectly formed team, you’ll take responsibility for organising and delivering some of their smaller events, including seminars, roundtables, drinks receptions and webinars, while also supporting the team on larger conferences. You’ll be involved in all the practical details that go into making an event a success, from coordinating venues and suppliers to managing delegates, preparing event materials and providing on-site support. There will also be some administrative responsibilities, so being organised, thorough and happy to roll up your sleeves is essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering smaller events from start to finish, including seminars, roundtables, drinks receptions and webinars.
- Liaising with venues and suppliers, coordinating logistics and managing delegate registrations and enquiries.
- Supporting the Event Managers with the preparation and delivery of larger conferences and flagship events.
- Setting up and maintaining event technology, including event apps.
- Updating event webpages with agendas, joining instructions and other important information.
- Monitoring the events inbox and responding to delegate enquiries in a helpful and professional manner.
- Coordinating event materials and managing event stock.
- Assisting with post-event reporting, attendance figures and delegate feedback.
- Providing on-site support at UK events, which may occasionally involve early starts, evening work and overnight stays.
About you
You’ll be a confident and articulate events professional, and have around 2–3 years’ experience in corporate events, ideally with experience of coordinating events for senior business professionals. You’ll understand the standards expected by this audience and appreciate the importance of getting the details right, communicating clearly and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
You’ll be organised, proactive and reliable, with the confidence to take ownership of smaller events while working closely with the wider team on larger projects. Just as importantly, you’ll be a team player who is happy to pitch in, share ideas and support colleagues when things get busy. They are a friendly and supportive team, who pride themselves on delivering excellent events, with a top level experience for their members and delegates ... so are looking for a good fit to that. Is that you? We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Experience coordinating and delivering corporate events, with a good understanding of the needs and expectations of a senior business audience, experience of event logistics (delegate, venue liaison etc)
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to juggle several tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and a practical, can-do approach.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships with delegates, suppliers and colleagues.
- Experience using event technology platforms; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and CrowdComms would be an advantage.
- The ability to work independently and use your initiative, while being a positive and supportive team member.
- A flexible approach and a willingness to support events outside standard office hours when required.
Experience within events within financial services or a membership association would be useful, but it isn’t essential. A strong corporate events background, a professional approach and the right attitude are what matter most.
You’ll be joining a busy, friendly and supportive team of event specialists, with the opportunity to take ownership of your own events, contribute to larger-scale conferences and continue developing your skills in an interesting and specialised sector.
