We were briefed by one of the UK's leading investment management companies to source a strategic Head of Internal Communications.During a period of internal change they'd identified a need to hire an internal communications specialist to encapsulate/build on their new brand strategy whilst reinforcing the company's values.This person needed to support the successful implementation of future business plans by developing and deploying a range of internal/change communication and employee engagement techniques.They would also need to act in a consultative capacity to senior members of the organisation to help guide them through staff engagement and internal messaging management.

It was important that whoever we identified would understand investment/fund management but also appreciated a 'Partner' style environment where stakeholder management is a prerequisite.


Regan & Dean used its network and expertise of the market to brainstorm and identify a list of possible appropriate candidates from relevant companies.We identified potential company backgrounds and made initial approaches.We also used industry specific jobsites, plus sent email broadcasts throughout the network including twitter followers, and advertised on the Regan & Dean website. Candidates on the long list were interviewed briefly by telephone in the first week. A shortlist was then selected and then invited in for a thorough face to face interview with one of our consultants, out of which 4 CVs were submitted, 2 were interviewed and one was taken through to second stage and offered.

The outcome

We identified a candidate who had started their career in management consultancy before joining two Magic Circle law firms.They had a proven background in advising the firms global senior leadership team of the communications aspects of strategic initiative and large-scale, complex change projects with a focus on employee engagement.They had also developed a firm-wide multi channel internal communications strategy supporting the wider communication's and firms strategy from scratch.Importantly they really understood the ethos of our client and prepared to make a real impact to the company.
