Events & Exhibitor Services (Deputy Manager – outdoor events)

£30,000 + good bens

Venue / Exhibitions / Association

Job Description

Amazing exhibitions/shows/events job working for a high profile organisation on their big well-known public facing shows & exhibitions!

Ever looked at the photos & TV coverage of those big outdoor consumer shows (you know...... the shows with the breathtaking exhibits that everyone is talking about and everyone wants to go to ...... and the shows that have blanket coverage across social media, TV news channels and front-page pics in the free newspapers such as Metro and The Evening Standard!) ...... and thought …... "that is exactly the sort of event I want to be working on"......  then look no further ... this is the dream job for you!!

The role - Operational & Exhibitor Services Deputy Manager - will see you working in a busy team of 5 (all of whom report to the Manager/Head of Dept for exhibitor services) who look after all the exhibitor services for a portfolio of popular UK Shows and Exhibitions.

You'll take the lead (with a coordinator to support you) on one of this prestigious society's large-scale public shows and will also be working on a couple of the smaller London shows too. You won't have any direct line management responsibilities however you will need to deputise for the Operational & Exhibitor Services Manager as/when required and there is quite a lot of on-site work (during the show build and live show days) during the busy show months but there is TOIL and the company bens are great and of course you'd be working on some of the UKs top shows so the trade-off is certainly worthwhile!

The main remit of the role is to ensure exhibitors have a smooth event experience and to provide extensive event administration and operational support to all the relevant stakeholders. In short, you’ll be working with a vast range of exhibitors and providing first class customer service on everything from exhibitor enquiries, exhibitor communication, creating Online Zones for accreditation & exhibitor orders, working on floorplans, showguides, exhibitor packs and pre-event exhibitor advice, tracking all communication, updating CRM databases, handling exhibitor related admin and general exhibitor support services as well as being on-site throughout the events/shows in a very hands-on and customer facing role to manage the on-site exhibitor cabin, accreditation & general exhibitor trouble shooting and to manage all the casual/temporary staff. As with all event roles the devil is in the detail and as such the role is 70% planning, admin & office-based exhibitor communication/customer service based however 30% of the role will be “in the thick of and on-site” at some of the UKs most exciting and high-profile public facing consumer shows!

NB: this is not an event logistics, event production or end to end event management based role but it’s a fantastic role if you love working on big shows & exhibitions and love providing exceptional customer service and support to a wide range of exhibitors some of which can be very high-profile / well known.

You’ll have circa 3-4 years’ experience working on high-profile events and if you have any prior experience of working on exhibitions or big consumer shows that would certainly be a huge advantage!

You’ll need to bring to the table a good all-round events skill set (large-scale events ideally), brilliant admin, data-management and systems & CRM knowledge as well as some experience / a good understanding of exhibitor/delegate/sponsor management, event registration & accreditation, customer service and on-site event ops skills.

From a personality and work ethic point of view you’ll be proactive, enthusiastic, great with people, detailed and accurate, good on systems & databases and have a positive, flexible and can-do attitude. You’ll be keen to keep developing and progressing your career and as such be eager to learn new skills and ways of working in a friendly & fun (as well as hardworking and professional) environment.

You must be willing to be on-site for several days in a row during busy periods and will need good team/staff management skills and be confident enough to deputise for the Ops and Exhibitor Services Manager when needed / required. An interest in horticulture, landscape gardening or environment would be advantageous and ideally candidates should enjoy working on big public facing events, exhibitions and shows!

This is a fantastic permanent role for an experienced events professional with good exhibitor/sponsor management, event registration/accreditation, customer service and on-site event ops skills.
