Senior Project Manager (multi-day international B2B event)

Perm job - Senior Event Project Manager (B2B overseas conferences/congresses) - conference planning, programme & speaker management!


London based PCO who deliver large scale 4-5 day global conferences for the energy and oil & gas sectors. London office and friendly and fun team.


This is an exciting permanent role (reporting in to the MD) for a very experienced “conference / event” Project Manager. This Senior Project Manager will see you leading a team of 5 on the overall design and planning of the conference, the program and all of the speaker management of a very large-scale multi-day international trade conference & exhibition which is held every 3 years for key players within the oil & gas industry.

You’ll be working with a National Committee (guiding them on the conference and the overall program) and with a locally based PCO who are managing the housing and delegate registration aspects, so the role needs someone with great communication skills and good multi-stakeholder management experience.

This is a mixed role of top-level event project management, team leadership, client/committee liaison and budget management and one where you will be responsible for keeping everything on track (and to successful delivery) in terms of the conference planning & development, programme & agenda management, design & production and all aspects of speaker management (speaker logistics, speaker protocol and general speaker communication/liaison).

The role will involve extensive travel to the Far East (5 - 6 overseas business trips per year, each lasting up to a week, as well as approximately three weeks on-site over the period of the event).


You’ll be a confident and versatile conferencing / event professional with the weight and gravitas to lead large scale B2B projects working with multiple stakeholders. You’ll have a minimum of 4 years’ senior level Event Management experience (commercial events/conferences) having worked previously on multi-day and multi-stream B2B conferences, congresses & exhibitions for international audiences.

You’ll have a proven track record of event project management, staff/team leadership, conference planning, design & development, programme & agenda management, complex speaker logistics, committee & association liaison, production, budget management and on-site delivery. You’ll need to be able to juggle multiple work strands, manage a small team of your own as well as being able to liaise effectively with all other suppliers, agencies, stakeholders and contractors whilst working on a large scale and long lead time project.

Experience of working on events in Asia is very advantageous as is some experience of working within the oil & gas and energy sectors.

And finally, from a personality and work ethic point of view, you’ll need to be culturally aware and enjoy the challenge of working in different environments, thrive in a small, fast paced and friendly company (and on long lead projects / events) and be happy to travel extensively for site visits, meetings and throughout the duration of the event.
