You’ll be joining one of our leading newspaper brands – their name is synonymous with quality and credibility, and they are renowned for their authoritative journalism.  Now a leading multimedia brand, they have a multi-platform portfolio.  As part of their commercial division they deliver a range of conferences and events – partnering with varied business sponsors from all areas of the corporate world.  Key to their commercial success are the partnerships they build with their sponsors, and the excellent thought-leadership events they stage in their name.

You’ll be working in the dedicated events team who deliver a range of topical and high profile business events – and your primary responsibility as Senior Events Executive will be looking after the sponsors of the event – this will range from one sponsor on smaller bespoke seminars, to multiple sponsors on large conferences.  You will be responsible for managing all sponsor relationships and ensuring all contracted deliverables are executed, accurately and on time. Liaising with internal departments and external suppliers throughout.  The role will also support the event Operations Manager on event logistics, including attendance on-site.  Your primary remit will be to ensure sponsors are delighted with the result of their investment – and looking after the fulfilment of their branding and event objectives from start to finish.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing event sponsors through the life cycle of every event
  • Primary responsible for ensuring all contractual obligations are met – eg branding, keynote speakers, passes, advertising, exhibition stands etc
  • Run sponsor meetings and conference calls
  • Managing budget sheets and timelines for all deliverables
  • Working with internal teams - Content Progamming, Marketing, Event Operations and Sales - to execute the relevant sponsor deliverables
  • Gaining sponsor approvals and managing through any changes
  • Attendance on-site at event
  • Working closely within the Operations team to ensure successful delivery of the event
  • Keeping sponsors happy!


You’ll have some proven experience of – and a lot of natural adeptness for - relationship management from within an events or exhibitions environment – ideally having worked with sponsors and fulfilling sponsor event deliverables.  You’ll enjoy working in a high profile and busy environment, and working with varied internal departments and senior stakeholders across marketing, programming, operations and sales.  A team player, flexible, with excellent interpersonal skills, an eye for detail and who would enjoy working for a prestigious news brand and with varied corporate business sponsors.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience working within a commercial events or similar b2b events environment
  • Relationship management experience, with a proven customer focus – ideally sponsor management or account management – and good at it
  • Experience of dealing with budget sheets and tracking and reporting costs
  • Understanding of project time lines and production across a range of event related deliverables
  • Experience of dealing with external suppliers or internal departments in the production of branded content and materials
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong administration skills, customer and service focussed
  • Team player, flexible, with high production values befitting of a major media brand and prestigious sponsors
