Senior Conference Producer (membership association)

Job Description

Exciting perm role in the Conference, CIPD Training & Events Team of a leading membership association for an experienced Senior Conference Producer!

THE ROLE AND COMPANY
A highly regarded business membership and qualifying association based in the heart of central London are looking for a Senior Conference / Events Producer to join their talented events team.

Reporting to the Head of Events and working with a team (consisting of a Conference Producer, Events Operations Manager and Event Coordinators) as well as with the marketing team and various internal and external stakeholders, this Senior Conference Producer position will see you take responsibility for developing and delivering a programme of commercially successful UK training courses, CPD events and conferences. The role will also involve working on other core association events including flagship annual conferences, networking events, awards and leadership events held across the UK and Ireland (1 to 2 day and occasionally 4-5 day events for audience numbers of 10-200pax and up to 800pax for some core events).

This is a 2nd in command level role where you will deputise for the Head of Events in his/her absence.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Conference production (including content research, topic generation & speaker acquisition)
  • Management of the company’s portfolio of CPD and training events
  • Act as lead producer on at least two conferences per year, including developing topics & programmes, sourcing speakers, writing event descriptions and liaising with marketing, logistics and other colleagues as appropriate
  • Financial & budget management
  • Project management, programme development, copy writing & sponsor liaison
  • Work closely with the Marketing team on the timing of promotional activities for each event, target audience(s), key messages and routes to market
  • Contribute to the future strategy and product mix of the events business

ABOUT YOU
You'll be a confident and outgoing commercial conferencing & events professional with a minimum of 5-6 years’ experience in producing and developing content led conferences, CPD programmes, training courses and membership association led annual & flagship events for professional markets. 

You're have exceptional conference production skills including research, topic & content generation, speaker sourcing, copy writing and programme development along with solid budgeting and financial management experience. You'll need to be creative in your thinking & approach and know how to write compelling conference & event proposals that will tick the boxes for stakeholders and be attractive and sell well to members and wider audiences.

As this role is senior in level / a 2nd in command type of position, you’ll need to have the weight & gravitas as well as knowledge & experience to deputise for the Head of Events in his/her absence and to assist with the day to day oversight and support of the wider conference production team.

From a personality and work ethic point of view you’ll need to be confident, outgoing, flexible and adaptable in approach, open-minded and team-orientated and you must be a superb communicator and a very creative person who enjoys coming up with fresh and innovative conference & event ideas that are both engaging and commercially viable.

 

This is an excellent permanent job for a Senior Conference Producer with strong research, content and topic development experience who is used to working within a professional membership body environment and is confident enough to take on a “2nd in command” role!
