Wonderful role at the heart of this exuberant dance and performance arts school! They’re looking for a fab operational people-person, who's passionate about dance to be the beat that keeps the whole ensemble on point!

The Organisation and context
Well-established and successful dance and drama performance arts school, providing a busy schedule of classes and programmes, alongside yearly theatre productions, their students start from 2 years and continuing through to pre-professional, across ballet, jazz, street dance, tap modern,contemporary, Musical Theatre, LAMDA, Acting and Singing.
Successfully grown over the last 12 years – and having successfully continued via virtual classes over the past year. Now with exciting new expansion plans, the Principal is looking to bring on board a talented and motivated Studio/Relationship Manager to take on this key role in the organisation – an organisation that has at its centre the conviction that the benefits that dance and drama education can bring (regardless of level and ability) are unlimited and can be a wonderful aid in both scholastic endeavours and personal growth.

Reporting into the Founder and Principal, this newly created role will be at the heart of the day-today running of a busy and lively studio and play a key role in the development and growth of this fantastic business. Essentially your role will have three aspects;

  • Relationship Manager
  • Studio Manager
  • Enrolement Manager

You’ll be the operational lynch pin to ensure the smooth running and operation of day-to-day activities – operationally this will mean being ‘front of house’ a lot of the time. Behind the scenes, through your expertise at creating and managing systems and communication channels, you’ll also take a key role in maximising the effectiveness and development of wider onboarding/enrolement and customer communications and marketing activities. You’ll be able to look at current processes and see how to make them even better. IT-savvyness and project management skills will be essential, as well as understanding of importance of communication to your wider community of students and parents.  You’ll oversee all administrative, studio operations, customer service systems, student onboarding etc. (and also see you involved in the operation of qualifications and the ops behind their amazing annual shows). Specific responsibilities include:

  • Operations & Administration
    • Responsible for smooth running of the studios and reception
    • Provide onsite management and support of the teaching team, admin assistants and reception team
  • Responsible for company’s student attraction, onboarding, enrolment and retention systems – review and enhance existing processes
    • Social media management – including content, scheduling and posting (Instagram/facebook) – respond to enquiries etc
    • Relationship management - managing of outgoing and incoming communications
  • Performances, Productions, Examinations
    • Ops, admins and co-ordination including of annual theatre show and performance opportunities (eg Dance Festivals, Community Events)
    • Exam admin co-ordination (for ISTD & LAMDA examinations)
  • General project management and support to the Principal in achieving service and organisational objectives

We’re looking for someone who has background experience in working/being within a creative/dance/theatre environment – you’ll have a passion for dance, and ideally experience either as a dancer, in child or adulthood recreationally or professionally. Alongside your proven operational experience and nous, specifically we’re looking for ‘a clever, creative, tech-savvy, systems creator and manager, smart working and detail orientated star!’ Someone who can understand the nitty gritty of operations, solution focussed, can ensure the studio runs brilliantly day to day, and also can take full responsiblity for the relationship management and communications with the wider school community, existing and potential.
Key skills and experience in the ideal candidate include:

  • Creative background with experience either working or participating in dance/theatre/performance arts – a natural interest and passion in the sector is essential – a natural engagement with the values and aims of the business is key to the success of the role
  • Excellent and proven relationship management skills, empathy, diplomacy, excellent communicaiton skills, written and verbal
  • Relevant admin, ops and project management experience gained in a customer orientated organisation – minimum 3 years
  • Tech-savvy – experience of working with systems (databases, CRM, onboarding/enrolement systems or similar) – and enjoy maximising their use and effectiveness
  • Experience working in an cultural/theatrical, and schooling/training environment highly beneficial
  • Flexibility, able to adapt to ‘live’ and busy situations – able to balance being organised and working in a ‘live’ and sometimes rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, social media-savvy, understand the nuances of email communication, able to handle challenging situations with professionalism and warmth
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, ability to remain calm under pressure and in dealing with unexpected situations
  • Ability (and ideally experience) of directing a team
  • Someone who works with humour, is creative, hard working and diligent and shares their core values and vision – with a strong drive to provide an out of this world customer experience each and every time
