Event Manager / Producer to develop and deliver varied content-led events for one of the UK’s largest membership bodies…

THE COMPANY
Membership association within the travel and leisure sector – they deliver a busy and varied programme of seminars, conferences, roundtables, panel discussions, both small and large scale events for their members and the travel trade, around hot topics in the travel and leisure sector, as well as championing policy and professional standards for professionals working in the sector.

THE ROLE
As Event Manager you’ll have full ownership of your own events – from both a production (ie content research and design) and delivery aspect.  You will be involved in all aspects of event management, including conference and seminar production, speaker management, venue booking and supplier management. (The team has 2 x Events Executives and an Administrator to assist on the event logistics etc.). Their events portfolio consists of around 70 seminars, conferences and large scale events for the sector. Experience and ability to research sector topics, and good writing/copy skills are essential for this role.  They’re a close, supportive and friendly team, with a great working culture. This role is suitable for an experienced and confident Event Manager who would enjoy working within a membership body where the focus is on producing high quality events for their membership rather than commercial targets. .Key Responsibilities include:

  • Content Production:
    • For new events carry out market  research on a topic, utilising internal expertise of wider Association team and external/market research - write a event programme and copy that summarises and attracts member attendance, source and secure senior industry speakers and partners
    • Liaise internally to agree content and key messages – lead content calls with key speakers and panellists
    • Conduct telephone-based research and organise and attend meetings with senior figures in the sector
  • Event Management
    • End to end logistics and on-site delivery
    • Delegate to /oversee Executives as required
    • Source venues and liaise with event suppliers (A/V, printers etc)
    • On-site co-ordination on the day of events/welcome etc
  • General
    • Brief sales, marketing and sponsorship teams

THE CANDIDATE
Experience in content Production for events is essential – so the usual research and topic generation skills, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Logistical event delivery is also ideal, although if existing experience not extensive support will be given by the wider team.
Key requirements:

  • Experience of content and speaker research for events – a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Confidence and maturity to deal comfortably to with Senior level executives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Events delivery experience
  • Experience from either within a commercial events or association/membership/professional body is highly desirable
