Permanent role for a Travel & Events Coordinator (MICE) who has strong group business travel knowledge (inc Sabre GDS software) and good event management skills!
Large and well known global travel management & events company with a small (but growing) central London office. They specialise in organising group business travel for big global clients and also provide event management solutions for a range of meetings, conferences, conventions, training events, corporate ski trips and incentives.
This Group Travel & Events Coordinator role which reports in to the Groups & Events Manager will see you working within a small and friendly team to research, plan and organise complex group business travel logistics for big global brand clients from across the pharma, medical, finance, entertainment, construction and technology sectors. This role will also involve working on logistics and arrangements for events but you would rarely be going on-site / attending the event.
This is a two-prong role of 50% meetings/events research & planning and 50% booking/managing group travel – all for corporate clients (so definitely business travel and not leisure related).
Business travel bookings (hotel, rail or flights) could be for a single person or very small groups using the Sabre GDS system or it could be for much larger groups where you would be negotiating directly with your contracted travel suppliers rather than using GDS systems.
In terms of the events side of this role you’ll be handling client enquiries that may range from small meetings and training sessions held regionally throughout the UK, to larger multi-day conferences in Europe, or company ski trips.
You’ll be a Group Travel & Events Specialist with a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the UK travel industry who is used to working with a range of corporate clients and managing enquiries from initial contact through to end invoice. You’ll have a genuine interest in events, hotels and venues and a proven background in booking multiple elements of group travel, booking meeting spaces and arranging events on a clients’ behalf. You must be fully proficient at using Sabre GDS programme and be able to take a client brief and provide effective and appropriate solutions, matching the client’s criteria and concept. You’ll need to have strong communication skills (written & verbal), amazing attention to detail, exceptionally high standards of punctuation and grammar and the ability to manage multiple projects at a time whilst always maintaining a high standard of work and customer service.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft office, primarily Outlook, Word and Excel is essential and you must be able to format and amend documents to a professional standard.
