General Manager – (Event Agency/DMC – French speaking)


£40-50k + bonus





Job Description

I’m looking for a General Manager/Head of Events (English/French speaker) to take charge at the London office of fun and funky event management company, whose main clients are French corporates with UK events.

Small, bright and upbeat London-based agency provides Destination Management and Special Event Services for international incentive and corporate meetings in London and the UK, with a specialism for French clients. They offer a full end to end service providing bespoke event solutions for groups from 10 to 1,500, with a fabulous client list which includes some great brands from beauty, to finance to automotive.  

As General Manager you’ll oversee the London office (currently 6 perm plus freelancers when busy), and oversee and monitor event projects progress, providing leadership, direction and support to the team of Event Project Managers.  You’ll report into the Paris-based MD, and be there to support, advice and motivate the London team.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Client Management – lead client contact, maintain relationships, challenge and interpret client briefs, lead clients through event process with drive
  • Team Management – oversee and support Project Managers and resource allocation
  • Project Management – be responsible at a senior level for the delivery of projects on time and budget, meeting and exceeding client’s expectations
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships
  • Actively seek opportunities and cross sell products/services
  • Monitor and maintain quality processes, and make sure company spirit and ethos is maintained and embraced by the team

You’ll be a French/English speaker, who has already managed a team, and has a great background within event management across a variety of event formats – with excellent UK knowledge.   You’ll have a bright and proactive personality, in keeping with the ethos and spirit of this friendly and dynamic agency.

Key requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years relevant event experience with proven management responsibilities
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and French
  • Strong UK and international travel/venue experience with established network of supplier contacts
  • Experience of working on a variety of different size and type of events in the UK
  • Confident with good client relationship building skills
  • Bright and personable with passion and pride in contributing to the business
  • Strong leadership qualities – being able to work as part of a team, nurturing younger members and reinforcing a team approach on client projects and internal initiatives
  • Well organised, numerate, great communication and interpersonal skills, customer focussed
