Public Relations Manager (PR) – Corporate Communications

Job Description

Great opportunity for a PR Manager/Media Relations Manager to join a high profile financial services organisation in a meaty in-house PR role.

The Public Relations Manager/Media Relations Manager will be involved in the main ‘press office’ function but also work proactively in promoting the company’s work, reputation, policy changes and key spokespeople. The role will encompass placed articles, interviews, comments and PR activities.

You can either have a background in corporate communications from  in-house or agency.

The Role

This role reports to the Head of Central Communications and staff engagement and works closely with the CEO office.

As PR Manager/Media Relations Manager you will be at the ‘frontline’ for all media enquiries. This role encompasses the company’s main ‘press office’ function but also works closely with colleagues across the organisation to proactively promote the ‘story’ through placed articles, interviews, comments and PR activities.   You will also get involved in some internal communications, CSR and ‘speech writing’ for CEO when required.

Day to day you will:

  • Daily management of press office function, incoming media enquiries and interview request.
  • Leading on myth busting activity through social or traditional media
  • Management of target media contacts lists
  • News monitoring
  • Manage all article commitment and producing/commission articles to meet deadlines
  • Providing briefings and interview support for senior spokespeople
  • Regular contributor to Twitter feed
  • Land key messages – spotting opportunities
  • Work with internal comms and events teams when needed

About You

I’m looking for an experienced PR Manager and/or Media Relations Manager who’s gained experience managing media strategies for a high profile, press office from either an agency or in-house corporate communications background, ideally within financial services.

  • Experience of managing media strategies for a high-profile organisation
  • Very well organised, with excellent attention to detail and knowledge of relevant tools
  • Experience of juggling multiple complex projects, and delivering to tight deadlines
  • Very strong writing skills
  • Speech writing experience would be advantageous

Personality wise; you’ll be a team player, able to deal with senior stakeholders, understand the bigger picture and be unflappable in a sometimes-pressurised environment.
